Cannabis Edibles Trend

In # 9. Appetite for edibles? by Lily

Determining whether or not to introduce a new cannabis product into the market it would require a company to take a look at several things. First, who is your main demographic when it comes to production in the first place. This could be a pro or a con depending on the demographic of the company we are producing for. I think the biggest pro that we could make an argument for is that it could be deemed as medical. There are several journals that have studied cannabis and their effects for issues such as Parkinson’s or anxiety. Another pro could be giving people that can not smoke for medical or physical reasons an opportunity to use cannabis. There is a large group of people around the country that use cannabis for a number of reasons, and by embracing the culture we could absolutely find profit. On the flip side there are several groups of people that might choose not to use a certain company’s product if they knew that they were also producing cannabis infused products. I think the cons really come into play when we think about the people that would frown upon our embracing of cannabis in everyday life. The second major con is that the United States Food and Drug Administration or FDA does not regulate cannabis products. This means that consumers would not have the security of the safety of the FDA. Personally this would be a big hindrance for me. I think consumers would be on edge with the lack of regulation for cannabis products. It is also difficult to regulate dosage meaning that consumers could never be certain about the dosage of what they are consuming. While there are several cons to attempting to integrate edibles into our product development, I think it would be foolish to not at least attempt to integrate it into our society.
