Edibles

In # 9. Appetite for edibles? by Anna

As just about anything in American politics is divisive, being pro or anti edibles as a food company could either greatly improve sales or completely ruin years of marketing and loyal costumers. Therefore, if a new product can’t be made that has significant potential to bring in new costumers, then nothing should be said at all. Even the possibility of Walmart for example considering making edibles could cause complete chaos even if they hadn’t sold a single unit. Also, the company’s existing marketing demographic should be taken into consideration. What age demographic are most of the products marketed to? Companies that primarily target children would probably not benefit from adding edibles to their products lines, it could be seen as indoctrination or inappropriate and get a lot of parents angry even if you have to show ID at the counter to buy them. However, companies that primarily target young adults might have a very accepting audience and see a lot of improvement in their sales.

Here at Foodz Company since we mostly sell products that are marketed towards families I doubt we would benefit from the edible trend. However, I would not be completely opposed to selling on the company website. Online products are less personal and parents are less likely to get upset at seeing them because they don’t have to worry about their kids seeing it. Online shopping is assumed to mostly have an adult demographic and since online shopping is not a social activity, the people buying them wouldn’t have to worry about being judged by others. It is my opinion that this is a very risky move, but if it is decided to be done anyway, I would recommend only an online sale or at least in a section of the shop that already has adult products such as alcohol.
