Natures Path

In # 8: Sustainability by Alison

Natures Path Foods or Natures Path is a privately owned family-owned producer of vegan, certified organic, and non-GMO foods. It is considered by this one website I found to be one of the most sustainable food companies in the U.S. They employ multiple different practices to keep their production sustainable. They offer many organic snacks and mostly different breakfast products such as granola and different breakfast cereals. They also have multiple associated brands such as EnviroKidz, Love Crunch, Que Pasa, and Qi’a, which also produce organic foods. They also work with their suppliers to help farmers make the conversion to organic production.

They are also one of the only brands that are doing trial circular shipping by sending reusable granola containers to pilot cities. Circular shipping is where they reuse all of their materials instead of throwing them away and starting from new. Currently 97% of the company’s packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable, with the aim that by 2025 100% of their packaging will be. Their carboard containers are 55% post-consumer recycled, FSC-certified, and printed with plant-based ink. They are also at the head of the regenerative agriculture movement and some of their oats are already Regenerative Organic Certified.

They also are very generous and supportive of other enterprises. They donate 2 million dollars of organic food every year to those in need and this year have said they will donate one pound of food for every one dollar donation to their food bank, they are also donation to food banks through items sold under their Love Crunch brand. They also funding urban garden projects by providing grants to different applicants. A portion of the sales of their EnviroKidz brand is donated to endangered species, habitat conservation, and environmental education for kids worldwide. They have raised over $3 million for their partner organizations to date.
