Bioengineering Label on Food

In # 6: Labeling GMOs by Grant

Food bioengineering is nothing new, but labeling your food with the bioengineering label is. With this new label finally passed, it seems that all foods that need this label will have it, but does it convey its intended message? It was actually quite difficult to find a food with this label on Google images; however, I don’t think the bioengineering label fits any food better than the Impossible Burger. I would say that this label does portray Its intended message (that the food was made with bioengineering) and that It should be clear to anyone who reads It. However, I don’t think the photo on the label portrays that It was made with bioengineering. The photo not only doesn’t look like It has anything to do with bioengineering, but It even looks similar to the No GMOs label that many foods have. I personally believe that someone could quickly glance at the label and mistake It for a “healthy” label. Even though GMOs aren’t really unhealthy, I don’t think the image should look so good, a simple black and white bioengineering square or circle of some sort without a nice nice-looking image would do a better job portraying bioengineering, I believe.
