Give Back Bars

In # 4: Organic foods and ethical labels by Zoie

A product that is currently sitting in my pantry is the Everlasting Joy MacroBar. This protein bar has multiple ethical labels on it including, USDA Organic, Vegan, and Gluten-Free. But, what I am most focused on discussing today is its purpose. On the packaging, the box and wrapper both state, “Your purchase of this bar will help feed the homeless”. According to the website, this statement means, a portion of net proceeds from year-round sales of the Everlasting Joy MacroBar is donated to Feeding San Diego.

Feeding San Diego is a branch of the national organization, Feeding America, working to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks. Feeding San Diego creates a comprehensive approach to hunger-relief through four initiatives – Feeding Kids, Feeding Families, Feeding Seniors, and Feeding Heroes.

Feeding Kids provides meals to improve childhood wellness through partnerships with local K-12 schools (School Pantry) and community sites.

Feeding Families provides meals to families across the county through community partnerships and direct-to-client distributions, including families in rural areas and college partner sites.

Feeding Heroes provides meals to military families through School Pantries, military-focused partner agencies, and special direct distributions.

Feeding Seniors provides seniors with healthy food through partnerships with senior housing facilities, community centers, and produce via Meals on Wheels East County.

gomacro wants consumers to understand that with each purchase of an Everlasting Joy MacroBar, they help feed people in need in the San Diego area. How could you resist not buying one?
