My Story with Food

In # 1: You are what you eat by Grant

Throughout my life, I have gone through a wide range of eating habits that are still changing to this day. When I was younger I used to be able to eat just about anything in sight, If It is what I liked. I was picky and didn’t like a wide variety of foods such as pizza and tacos. But If there was a steak in front of me It didn’t matter how big It was because I knew I could eat It all. Eventually, I grew up and started being able to consume less food than I used to be able to but I was happy with It because I was losing weight. In high school, I went from eating a lot to hardly eating anything back and forth but my range of food preferences also began to grow. By the time I made It to college, there was almost no food that I wouldn’t eat but something awful happened. My roommate almost never ate food and I guess that must have rubbed off on me somehow because, after the first couple weeks of college, I was eating next to nothing and would even go a whole day without food. This led to some of the most uncomfortable and frequent stomach pain. My stomach wasn’t the same for a year and It took me a while but nowadays I am back to It. I can eat an endless supply of food again, but I don’t. I try to eat healthy and have learned a lot in college. My first year of college and before I would eat processed and sugary foods for every meal. But after taking a few nutrition classes I realized that I should be eating healthier so I stopped going to the dining hall and started to eat healthy options from the store. Now I eat really healthy for the most part but get into some sugars, mostly ice cream, when night rolls around. I fill my diet with lots of fruit and unprocessed foods which I think can say a decent amount about who I am. I can still eat almost anything and am currently trying to cut out the large amount of sugar that I sometimes eat at night but my roommates and I have so many unhealthy foods in my college house that it can be really hard. As you can tell my food preferences have changed drastically for the better and for the worse over the years. My preferences were not only affected by my environment (high school vs college) but also by my roommate, how busy I was, and my own health.
