Wake Up Call on Obesity and Alternatives

In # 3: Junk Food Dissuasion by Danny

Obesity is a growing concern among American citizens, and the percentage amount of people who have this disease is very worrying. Fast food is not bad, occasionally, that is, but Americans consume very high amounts very quickly and without doing a minimal amount of exercise. New methods must be implemented in order to decrease the amount of obese people in the United States of America. Obviously one of the most effective methods would be for restaurant chains to offer the nutritional value of each food to their customers as a requirement. Another would be to limit the number of times a citizen can visit a restaurant in a fixed amount of time and restrict these people’s food per time of week/month. Voluntary cooking classes and macronutrient awareness could be very successful if implemented in a proper manner, volunteer chefs and food scientists would give free classes for anyone who wants to participate. Many people have no idea about macronutrients and must be educated on the topic since it is vital for a healthy lifestyle. Discounts in various stores or healthy restaurants for people with gym memberships, if a person signs up for a gym, they can be given coupons and discounts at stores, such as Walmart, Trader Joe’s, or even healthier restaurants like Subway.

People must become aware of the importance of excessive nutrients in their food and realize the damage that can be done to the body with these as well as the importance of the many advantages a healthy nutrient-tracked diet can bring. Any of the options discussed previously could be useful for people to wake up and guide themselves to a nutritious and healthy way of life. I believe the most useful option would be teaching people the vitality of cooking and nutrients can make them understand how they can extend their lifespan and become proud of their bodies. This alternative would not only give the citizens the skills to cook a nutritious meal but also to understand the value of what they are cooking and how it can affect their bodies either negatively or positively. Obesity is a very serious cause and if not treated can lead to a much more difficult lifestyle, an unhealthy and painful one, and even a shorter lifespan or death. Many people don’t realize that food is one of the major needs that lead a healthy life, many don’t even have a clue what a carbohydrate is, they need to be educated and helped through their long journey.
